The history of Brunata

Brunata is the company on the market with the most experience in heat allocation meters.

The first evaporative heat meter
The first heat metering systems were installed as far back as 1917. The meters were based on the thermo-electric metering principle and were introduced through the company Kemp & Lauritzen. A few years later, an article in a German periodical described a heat allocation meter which recorded the heat consumption as evaporation from a liquid-filled ampoule, installed on a radiator.

Mass production of radiator meters
The Danish engineer Constantin Brun immediately saw the possibilities of this meter which made it possible to allocate the heat costs in an accurate and precise manner. In 1935, he founded the engineering company Constantin Brun with a view to taking advantage of the potential of these meters. In 1939 the company became a Ltd. company and engaged itself in the production of radiator meters as well as the development of heat allocation systems for central heating installations.

Brunata is established in Denmark
In 1950 Constantin Brun A/S founded the company Brunata along with a Swiss company. The company name was created by merging the names of the two companies: the Danish BRUN and the Swiss ATA became BRUNATA. From the beginning, the company was aware of the international possibilities, and during the 1950’s it established licensee companies in Germany and other countries. From 1975 Brunata a/s was owned by the Kosan group from 1975, until 1 May 1990 when the company was acquired by the present owner, Master of Engineering Jens Peter Fischer Hansen.

New companies in Europe
During the nineties, Brunata has continued the internationalization process by establishing companies in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, and China as well as entering into cooperative agreements with companies in a number of other countries.
