Verification of the Meters
In Denmark, a verification system is a statutory requirement for almost all meter types. A verification system is a system intended to ensure that the correct measuring scales and liquid ampoules are used for calculating the heating consumption. The measuring scales and liquid ampoules must correspond to the standard applying to the meters and the directions provided by the meter supplier for the meters. The verification system must also be described and documented in a verification manual.
The purpose of a verification system is to give tenants and consumers proof that the meters used for cost allocation function correctly. In addition, the verification system has protected many landlords from lost cases at the Rent Tribunal and the Tenant Appeal Tribunal, as it has enabled them to document to the authorities that the meter system was working correctly. In addition, heating suppliers are obliged to have a verification system for all meters measuring the heating consumption in the homes for which the supplier is responsible, otherwise a fine may be imposed.
Leave the verification system to Brunata
Brunata provides monitoring systems and monitoring manuals for heat cost allocators, water and energy meters (district heating meters). For any meter type, we can offer a standard package which can be supplied with various additional services as requested. Brunata has a total of 15 years' experience of preparing verification systems for all meter types, as we have worked on this since the Act was passed in 1997. And our legal team keep a close eye on changes to the official regulations and new initiatives.
However, Brunata can only provide the monitoring system for a property if we are also responsible for reading the property's meters. This is necessary, because the establishment and operation of a monitoring system requires Brunata to have up-to-date information about the property's meters and allocation system - knowledge which we obtain and maintain through the annual reading.
We makes it easy to manage a verification system, as we prepare a comprehensive electronic verification manual which meets the legal requirements. We provide access to the verification manual online 24/7, so that an up-to-date copy can be printed out at any time if requested by the authorities. And we also take care of the statutory information to the residents if the verification system is changed.
Meter types without monitoring system
The provisions for a statutory monitoring system do not apply to hot water allocators (calorimeters) or water meters used as 'heat cost allocators' in a radiator system. However, dispensation is required before water meters may be used in this way.
