Lemvig Vand Digitalizes Operations with Brunata as a Full-Service Partner
Case Study: Brunata Water Utility Solution
When Lemvig Vand set out to digitalize more than 9,500 water meters, Brunata was selected as its partner. The decision was based not only on the quality of the technology and data capabilities, but also on Brunata’s ability to manage the entire process from start to finish.
“Brunata handles everything and takes responsibility for the entire process. Throughout the project, they have taken every detail seriously and demonstrated a high level of professionalism,” says Lars Holmegaard, CEO of Lemvig Vand.
Focus on data - not just meters
For Lemvig Vand, digitalization was not primarily about the meters themselves, but about the value of data. “The meter itself is not particularly important. What we are interested in is the data,” explains Lars Holmegaard. Brunata’s data-driven approach was a key factor in choosing a partner. Their understanding of how data can be transformed into actionable insights and operational efficiency was exactly what Lemvig Vand was looking for.
“They stood out because of their understanding of data and how it can be used in practice. That was crucial for us,” says Lars Holmegaard.
With Brunata’s solution, Lemvig Vand now has access to accurate real-time data that makes a clear difference in day-to-day operations. Tasks that previously required manual review and validation are now handled automatically, quickly, and reliably.
“We can access data instantly, which means we no longer have to spend time checking and correcting errors. It saves both time and resources and makes our work far more efficient,” he explains.
A Partnership Built on Reliability and Professionalism
Lemvig Vand describes the collaboration as both exemplary and highly professional. The replacement of the meters has been completed with only a handful of customer complaints, demonstrating Brunata’s thorough approach and the professionalism of its employees.
“Even with 9,500 meter replacements, we have experienced only very few complaints. That is impressive. Brunata’s technicians are courteous, professional, and respectful people, and that means more than many realize,” says Lars Holmegaard. “There has been excellent cooperation between Brunata’s employees and our own team. They take every detail seriously and understand how to act professionally when working with customers. That is an extremely important factor,” he adds.
Future-Proof Collaboration Focused on Data and Operations
For Lemvig Vand, the new meters are only the beginning. Real-time data means the utility can now gain a much clearer understanding of how water is being used and respond more quickly to irregularities. In the long term, this will also contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and supporting the green transition.
Lemvig Vand will also use the new data to further reduce water loss. The utility already performs significantly better than the national average, but with Brunata’s solution, the meters can help establish a new benchmark for how low water loss can realistically be reduced.
“There is enormous energy-saving potential in using data intelligently. Brunata is open to that development and ready to support it, which is very important for us,” says Lars Holmegaard.
The collaboration with Brunata has also enabled Lemvig Vand to comply with the new NIS2 requirements, which impose stricter data security obligations on operators of critical infrastructure.
“Brunata is data-driven and professional, and they understand the challenges we face. Their data security standards are strong, and it is extremely valuable that we can meet the NIS2 requirements without major difficulties,” concludes Lars Holmegaard.
Data as the Foundation for Future Operations
Although Valsgård Waterworks already operates with very low water loss, it sees digital meters as an important investment in the future of its operations.
The continuous flow of data enables more effective monitoring of the distribution network and makes it easier to respond quickly to irregularities.
With Brunata’s solution, the utility has gained a robust data foundation that can strengthen leak monitoring, daily operations, and water consumption documentation for many years to come.
