About us

Smart Energy!Solutions for a greener future

From intelligent sensors and consumption accounts to advanced energy monitoring systems and IoT solutions, Brunata is dedicated to making energy consumption in cities and buildings more intelligent and sustainable.

Embrace the future

A greener future is not solely about new energy sources; it is fundamentally about enhancing the efficiency of resource utilisation and achieving more with less. This is where Brunata plays a pivotal role.

As a contemporary cleantech company, we specialise in measuring and optimising energy consumption in residential and commercial properties, public buildings, water utilities, and more. Leveraging data, intelligent technology, and IoT solutions, we strive to make buildings and cities smarter across Europe.

We are committed to the belief that technology can create a more human-centric future.

Our mission

Brunata is dedicated to transforming our buildings, homes, and cities into smarter environments. Wherever people reside, we diligently measure heat consumption, monitor water usage, manage energy, oversee the indoor climate, protect properties, and much more.

Our efforts contribute to resource conservation, health improvement, and climate protection. In essence, we strive to optimise energy consumption, whether at home, in public buildings, or urban spaces.

An international corporation with Danish origins

You can find Brunata’s products, services, and offices throughout Europe, extending from the North Cape in Norway to the southernmost tip of Italy.

Our headquarters are situated in Herlev, Copenhagen, where we collaborate closely with our subsidiaries and partners across more than 17 European countries.

With a history spanning over 100 years, our roots are firmly Danish. However, similar to many significant Danish technology companies, our outlook and operations are global. Today, we are part of the German-owned Brunata-Minol-Zenner group, which employs over 4,200 individuals worldwide.

Brunata is a leading specialist in consumption accounts, energy measurement, property-based IoT solutions and energy management.

Our solutions and services

To achieve our goal of streamlining and modernising our energy usage, we have structured our company around four key business areas. These encompass everything from small heat cost allocators to advanced energy monitoring systems.

Consumption accounts

Accurate and reliable consumption accounts are at the heart of our business. They offer administrators and residents a comprehensive overview of the allocation of costs for water, heating and electricity.

Historically, these accounts were delivered on paper; however, today they are electronic and based on remote reading measurements.

Measurement technology

We offer an extensive range of innovative and intelligent consumption meters, including heat cost allocators, water meters, electricity meters, gas meters, indoor climate sensors, smoke detectors and network components among others.

All our devices seamlessly integrate with wireless networks, enabling them to communicate with each other and transmit data to our energy monitoring system, Brunata Online, or other compatible platforms.

Smart Building

Imagine a building that can monitor its own energy consumption, identify the locations and amounts of water usage, sense the indoor climate and detect leakages.

This is Brunata Smart Building, our Internet of Things solution, designed to maintain the health and safety of properties by integrating the building’s sensors and meters into an intelligent network.

Energy management

Our data-driven energy monitoring system offers administrators a comprehensive overview of the property’s energy consumption.

This invaluable digital tool aids in optimising energy usage, generating substantial savings for residents, owners and, importantly, the climate.

From the past to the future

Innovation and technological development have been integral to our ethos from the very beginning. As early as 1917, Danish engineers, such as Constantin Brun, began researching and utilising heat cost allocators based on thermoelectric principles.

In the 1930s, Brun identified the potential to develop heat cost allocators and an accounting method that could accurately and fairly distribute a property’s heating consumption. This led to the creation of the consumption account and the establishment of the engineering Firm Constantin Brun A/S.

In 1950 Constantin Brun A/S merged with the Swiss firm ATA, expanding its reach beyond national borders. The new entity was named Brunata, a contraction of the two original names.

Throughout the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, Brunata continuously developed and refined its business, solutions, and services. By the mid-1990s, the first wireless Brunata meters were introduced to the market, enabling remote reading and marking the initial step towards a wireless future.

In 2005, the digitalisation of the consumption account commenced. Brunata now provides residents and administrators with online visualisation of their consumption data.

In 2018, Brunata was acquired by the family-owned German company Minol, a global leader in energy, measurement technology and data networks. Concurrently, the company became part of the Brunata-Minol-Zenner group.

Today, Brunata is pioneering the development of intelligent meters and IoT solutions, where sensors are connected to online platforms via digital networks. Smart Building and Energy Management have emerged, heralding the future.
